The Medtech Founder Signal System

Translate what your product is into what it means for your stakeholders.

A diagnostic, positioning, output and implementation system for early orthopaedic and neuro-implant founders. Align your evidence, founder authority and stakeholder messaging on congruency before you increase visibility.

Built from the experience behind Emerging Implant Technologies, which was acquired by Johnson & Johnson in 2019 and is marketed today by DePuy Synthes as Conduit.

Phase 1 · EUR 2,750 Phase 2 · EUR 8,000 ~19 calendar weeks One founder at a time

A technical description will not create pull.

A founder needs to translate technical specs into the reason why a product is a need-to-have for a specific Key Opinion Leader (KOL).

The unique characteristics and technical details matter. The surgeon also needs to understand what it means using the product at the various aspects of his work. Including the intended outcome for the patient, handling during surgery, complication considerations and the logistics for the hospital.

There is a need to translate the product "what it is" to "what it means" for a surgeon, their patients and the hospital.

Without that translation, the founder keeps pushing technical information towards a potential stakeholder and hopes that they will work out the relevance themselves.

At Emerging Implant Technologies, we connected the messaging of a 3D-printed porous titanium implant to the next step. What does it mean to have this product for a surgeon? We called it Smart Spinal Fusion. The name carried the intended clinical logic from porous titanium and bone ingrowth to spinal fusion, instead of leaving the surgeon with a list of technical characteristics.

I am Nancy Lamerigts, MD PhD, founder of Mercuriosity and co-founder of InSpine, a Dutch distribution company in spinal implants and an incubator for promising MedTech. Out of InSpine emerged Emerging Implant Technologies, Cresco Spine and Atraxon Biotech. At Cresco Spine, I lead the branding, re-branding, positioning and communication. At Atraxon Biotech I start to revive congruent marketing and communication activities.

One value, translated for every stakeholder.

The core value of your product stays the same. What it means must be translated for the person in front of you.

The surgeonWants to understand what the product means during surgery and for the patient.
The hospitalLooks at logistics and costs.
The investorNeeds to understand how the clinical value can become commercial value.
The exit partnerAssesses how the product fits the market they already know.

The emphasis changes for each stakeholder. The evidence and claim boundaries stay connected.

Align the message before increasing visibility.

Many founders start with LinkedIn because they feel an urgency to become visible business wise but they know they hardly are. However, the founder profile is only one part of the communication system.

First, find out how congruent the messaging is across all platforms the product is communicated. How long ago was the website created? Does the latest investor deck miss information that is present on the website or LinkedIn company page? Does the founder tell the same evidence-backed story?

Align these channels before putting the founder on stage online. The company and the founder can then reinforce the same core value without creating conflicting versions of the product story.

Phase 1

The Foundation Gate.

The system begins with diagnosis. Mercuriosity checks whether there is something worth amplifying and where the current story diverges.

Is there something worth amplifying?

Product Viability Scan

Does the product address a problem that a KOL considers important enough to act on? Is there a market that is sufficiently reimbursed? Can the available evidence support a defensible need-to-have position?

Where does the story diverge?

Congruence Audit

Do the deck, website, regulatory narrative and founder profile carry the same core value? Where does communication outrun the evidence, stay behind the current company stage or change meaning between audiences?

Do we build, or do we stop?

Decision

The Foundation Gate ends with a go, conditional go or no-go decision and a set of repair priorities. A no-go stops the build. Visibility cannot compensate for a proposition or evidence base that is not ready.

Phase 2 · after a go

Build the signal.

After a go, we turn the diagnosis into a working system for the founder and the company. The build takes four weeks.

Week 1

Establish the value core

We build the Need-to-Have Evidence and Stakeholder Value Map. The product's clinical need, differentiation, evidence and claim boundaries are translated for KOLs, hospital stakeholders and investors.

Week 2

Position the founder

We build the Founder Authority Blueprint, including the positioning line, point of view, core bio, founder voice and authority narrative.

Week 3

Align the communication surfaces

We repair the core messaging across the founder's LinkedIn profile, company page, website and investor deck. We also prepare five tailored KOL Conversation Pathways.

Week 4

Activate the system

We transfer the personalized Founder Content Engine, approve the first four content pieces and establish the baseline for the 90-Day Signal Control Loop.

Ninety days to put the system into practice.

The 90-day implementation period starts after the four-week build has been approved and activated.

During these 90 days, the founder applies the messaging in content and stakeholder conversations. A weekly 30-minute 1:1 Signal Support session keeps the implementation moving and provides a fixed moment to solve problems, correct message drift and review KOL follow-up.

Day 45We review activity, message congruence, claim safety and the first stakeholder responses. This is the moment to correct the implementation.
Day 90We compare the results with the activation baseline. The founder receives a Founder Signal Scoreboard and written evaluation covering activity, traction, congruence, claim safety and concrete next steps with KOLs and investors.

What changes for the founder.

After the build, the founder has the complete evidence-backed story on top of mind.

In a real conversation, they can explain what the product means for the stakeholder in front of them. The emphasis in the messaging may change for a surgeon, hospital or investor, while the evidence-backed core and claim boundaries stay connected.

The founder can also recognize when the website, deck, company page or personal LinkedIn starts to drift away from that core. The feedback loop shows where the messaging needs to be corrected.

The personalized Founder Content Engine helps the founder continue this work after the build.

The founder leaves with a defensible, repeatable way to communicate the value of the product. The 90-day loop shows how that signal performs in practice and where it needs correction.

Progress is tracked through activity, congruence, claim safety and defined next steps with KOLs and investors.

Timing and investment.

The complete trajectory takes approximately 19 calendar weeks.

I take one founder at a time through the intensive four-week build. This gives me the time to work through the evidence, language and materials at the level this requires.

A start date is shown only when it is genuinely available.

The method is not theoretical. The spinal implants Nancy Lamerigts, MD PhD, designed at EIT are sold today by DePuy Synthes as Conduit. Cresco Spine is FDA cleared and launching globally in 2026. Atraxon Biotech applies the same method in a different clinical field. Mercuriosity transfers that operating logic to pre-market founders in orthopedics, spine and neurosurgery.
